Inevitably, your product or service will become obsolete, and you’ll need to re-market and/or re-brand to keep up with the times. But that doesn’t mean you need to give up on your existing customers just because you’ve updated your site or products. There are many ways to re-market your business online, and some of them can even become customers while you’re re-branding.
1. Blogging
Blogging is a fantastic way to build an audience, and it’s highly marketable. Since everyone has a blog these days, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with potential customers across the globe. While you’re at it, you can also use your blog to build your affiliate sales, which can become a lucrative source of revenue if you do it right.
2. YouTube Videos
YouTube is the world’s second-largest search platform after Google, and it’s only getting larger as more people turn to digital platforms for their entertainment needs. In terms of online marketing, YouTube can be extremely effective, and it’s definitely worth your time to create some informational or entertaining videos to post on your channel. Just remember that many social platforms, including YouTube, have algorithms that prioritize content that is frequently watched over content that is frequently uploaded. This can lead to your videos being seen by less people than you would expect.
3. Podcasts
Another fantastic way to market your brand is through podcasts. Think of a podcast like a radio show, only digital. What’s great about podcasts is that they’re highly customizable, which means you can put your own spin on them. And since people love to listen to podcasts while they work out, walk, or drive, you can often find a willing audience that might not normally be interested in your blog or social media posts. But even if you don’t have a podcast of your own yet, there are numerous free podcast hosting platforms out there, like Google Podcasts, which make it easy to get started. Plus, you can use the show to help market your other platforms, like blog posts and social media.
4. Email Marketing
Email marketing is another fantastic way to connect with customers and potential customers, and it’s extremely affordable. Essentially, you’re just sending an email to a list of people who’ve given you their email address, so you can connect with them through email. If you want to market your business using email, you can use tools like MailChimp to help you get started. Just keep in mind that people are often so overwhelmed with email that they ignore or delete messages that are irrelevant to them, so you need to be strategic about the emails you send out.
5. Video Tutorials & Walkthroughs
Video tutorials and walkthroughs are like podcasts and blogs, only they use visuals to demonstrate how to use a product or service, or to teach someone something new. While you’re likely familiar with the practice of creating videos to explain your products or services to potential customers, you may not have considered the marketing possibilities inherent in video tutorials and walkthroughs. With videos, you can use software like Camtasia or Jing to record yourself teaching someone (or yourself) how to use your product or service. There’s no wrong way to use videos to market your business; in fact, you can use every part of the video, from the spoken word to the visuals, to promote your product or service.
6. Social Media
Finally, we have social media. Social media is everywhere, and it’s frequently being used to market products and services. If you’re not yet fully committed to marketing through social media, it’s likely because you’re not yet taking advantage of the diverse audience that many platforms offer. Simply put, people love to use social media to follow and connect with people they know and like, which leads to increased reach and the opportunity to engage with many more people.
As you’d expect, there are many different kinds of social media platforms, each with its own unique features and audience. If you’re looking for a free platform to build your audience, you can’t go wrong with Twitter. However, if you’re looking to grow your business through social media, be sure to consider the various demographics that each platform attracts. For example, TikTok is popular with Gen-Z and millennials, while Instagram is popular with Generation-X and Baby Boomers.
7. Google Ads
Last but not least, we have Google Ads. As you’d expect, Google is the world’s largest and most popular search engine, and it’s frequently used to find websites related to any subject. While you’re unlikely to find many search engine optimization (SEO) tactics that work specifically for online marketing, many of the same principles that work for organic search engine results apply, which means you can use Google Ads effectively to promote your business.
What types of ads you place on your website can impact your organic search rankings, so it’s worth considering how you’re going to use ads on your website. There are three basic types of ads that you can use:
- Display Ads: These are the standard, transparent ads that you see along with search engine results. You can target these ads based on a variety of criteria, including the country, language, and maybe most notably, the location of the person seeing the ad.
- Text Ads: These are the sponsored ads that you see inside of text-based publications, like blogs and news websites. You’re reading these types of publications because they’re relevant to your product or service, so it makes sense that you’d see sponsored ads. Just keep in mind that the content inside of these publications can still be relevant even if the ads aren’t.
- Video Ads: Like display ads, these are the ads that you see along with video search results. However, these are also the types of ads that can be more effective when used on YouTube and other similar platforms. Since you’re looking for viewers to engage with you, these types of ads can be highly effective.
All of these platforms offer an audience that you can use to promote your business. But just remember that since everyone is trying to build their audience online, the competition is high, and it can be difficult to stand out amongst the noise. Even so, with just a little bit of effort, you can find a way to make your voice heard, to let people know about your business and what you have to offer.
