Online Marketing – What’s the Right Degree?

An entrepreneur’s life is filled with ups and downs. One of the downs is that you might have to chase down a few rabbits before you find one that will cooperate and stick with you for the long haul. That’s what happened to me. After I found my biological twin (who also shares my love for wine and traveling), I set out to try and find my dream job. I started out by applying to entry-level positions online. After about 100 rejections, I finally found one that wasn’t a scammer and decided to meet with them in person. After a few more interviews, I finally got the job…

…only to discover that they had lied to me about the real job requirements. It took me two more months of going through hell before I found my actual dream job. Online marketing is a career filled with possibility. You will be able to work remotely (from home) as much as you want and set your own schedules. You will also get to travel, both domestically and internationally, which is extremely rare for an employee. You will get to see and experience so many different cultures. Just make sure you’re ready for the long haul. This job isn’t for the faint of heart. You need to be able to handle rejection and be confident enough to approach each new opportunity with a “new and improved” attitude.

Why Online Marketing?

Well, duh. Why wouldn’t you want to work remotely? It’s the year 2020. There’s no reason to be constrained by geographical limitations. You will be able to work remotely from anywhere. You will get to enjoy the freedom of working remotely while also getting the benefits of a regular paycheck. What’s not to love?

…but there’s more! You will get to specialize in something you’re passionate about. I’m an online marketer. I love marketing and trying to find ways to grow a business. I specialize in SEO (search engine optimization) and email marketing. I enjoy trying to find the best strategies to help my clients rank higher in their chosen search engines and grow their email list.

You should definitely consider online marketing as a career. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a job that doesn’t require a four-year college degree. Although many large companies advertise that they require a four-year degree, a lot of those jobs are just for show. They don’t require you to actually do any of the work. You will get to specialize in something you’re passionate about, and it will be a great opportunity to grow your knowledge and skills.
