Here’s some incredible news: podcasts are becoming a popular means of information consumption, particularly among consumers aged between 18-29.
A 2017 report from the podcast industry body iTunes said that 82% of adults aged between 18-29 use podcasts, compared to 64% of adults aged between 30-49 and 57% of adults aged between 50-64. (Apple Inc., “iTunes Store Statistics”, accessed 17 August 2017)
Podcasts can be an invaluable source of information. They’re regularly updated with the most recent news stories, as well as host interviews with thought leaders and industry experts. This allows busy consumers to stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in areas such as marketing, sales, and customer service.

CNET’s The Smart Seller’s Podcast
Another must-listen podcast for marketers is The Smart Seller’s Podcast. Similar to Tim O’Brien’s MarketingSherpa Podcast, this weekly show covers all aspects of e-commerce, from marketing to sales to delivery and follow-up (website traffic, email marketing, and social media).
The Smart Seller’s Podcast is probably the best weekly e-commerce podcast out there. That’s a tall order, but Matt Baczyk, aka “The Smart Seller”, has built up an incredible array of expertise, over the years.
Baczyk started his podcast in April 2016, a few months after launching his online store BigCommerce. (He previously co-founded and ran Wishpond, a marketing automation company that merged with HubSpot in 2015.)
The show’s popularity is demonstrated by the fact that it’s been downloaded over 300,000 times and viewed over 50,000 times on iTunes. (Statista, “Podcast Statistics”, accessed 17 August 2017)

Baczyk is not a traditional marketing expert – he actually founded a company that provides advertising solutions to online stores. (He also sits on the board of directors of the North American Retail Store Council, which represents various retail groups.
However, even if you’re not in marketing, you’ll still find value in The Smart Seller’s Podcast. For example, if you’re a business owner who wants to learn more about e-commerce marketing, you can listen to an episode of The Smart Seller’s Podcast and gain a ton of great insights.
