While building my own digital marketing agency, I tried out several platforms to find the one that was right for me. When it came to choosing a social media platform, I tried out dozens of platforms including:

All of these platforms are very effective at drawing in potential customers, but I wanted to find a platform that could expand my reach to the largest audience possible. After trying out dozens of social media platforms, I eventually found a solution that combines the usability of a social network with the engagement metrics of a blogging platform. This combination makes for a powerful online marketing tool.

The Rise of Blogging

A blog is a fantastic way to build a following and generate interest in your product or service. Launching a blog was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only do I get to write about what I know and love, but I also get to do so from the point-of-view of someone who is interested in my subject matter.

Blogs also allow you to establish credibility. If you want to become a thought leader in your industry, blogging is a great way to do so. By consistently publishing new content, you’ll be able to build a body of work that can prove that you are an expert in your industry. This, in turn, will attract interested customers to your website or blog.

Building a Following

Once you’ve established yourself as an expert in your industry, the next step is to build a following. If you want to ensure your blog is able to generate revenue, you need to make sure you have a healthy, engaging blog community. To do this, you can start by engaging with your readers on a regular basis. There are several ways to do this including:

  • Responding to comments on your blog posts
  • Sending out periodic emails (newsletters) for free
  • Hosting webinars and live video chats with famous people (thought leaders)
  • Sharing valuable resources (e.g., how-to guides, templates)
  • Posting on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook
  • And the list goes on

Whatever method you choose, make sure that you engage with your audience on a regular basis. Doing this will not only help you learn from mistakes, but it will also allow you to become a better marketer as you continue to build your blog. Most importantly, it’ll allow you to connect with potential customers who are interested in what you’ve got to offer.

Growing Your Audience

To build a successful blog, you need to grow your audience. One of the best ways to do this is by using affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you’ll be partnering with companies that have products or services that complement or fit your niche.

When someone clicks an affiliate link and makes a purchase, you’ll earn a commission. It’s a win-win situation for both your audience and the company partnering with you. The more you promote, the more you’ll earn.

Making Money With Your Blog

Now that you’ve got a following, the next step is to make money with your blog. There are several ways to do this including:

  • Offering paid courses on certain topics related to your niche
  • Setting up online stores that sell your own products (e-commerce stores)
  • Sponsoring or participating in social media campaigns for brands and businesses (content sharing)
  • Integrating affiliate marketing with your other platforms (social media, email marketing, etc.)
  • And the list goes on

Choose one or two of these profit centers and start reaping the benefits. Once you’ve got a steady income coming in, it’s time to revisit your initial plan and decide what you want to do next.
