How to Market Your Online Shop

If you’re reading this, I assume you’re either searching for ways to market your online store or are about to venture into the uncharted waters of eCommerce. Either way, I have some good news for you!

I’m going to teach you the ropes of online marketing, with an emphasis on the things you can do now, to make your store stand out from the crowd.

So sit back and get ready to learn. Let’s get started.

Build A Following

The first and most important thing you need to do to market your online shop is to build a following. You can do this for a couple of different reasons.

Firstly, there’s the obvious reason – you want customers. However, beyond that, you can use your Twitter to engage with potential customers, create interesting articles to attract the attention of people on social media, or you can even use your blog to grow your audience.

Whatever platform you use, you need to find a way to connect with your audience. To get started, I suggest you read How to Build A Following on Social Media (and not just because it’s a great article by Michael Hyatt). Once you have your basic understanding of how to build a social media audience, you can look into different methods of promoting your online store. For example, you can try out a piece of software like GrowAI which can help you automate the process of connecting with potential customers and growing your audience.

The best part about this step is that you can do it now. No, I don’t mean that you need to wait until you have a big following before you start marketing. I mean you can start building a following today.

Now, it would be great if we could instantly build a big audience and make a large amount of money from our online stores. But that’s not the case.

Building a following takes time. But don’t worry – it’s a step-by-step process and you can definitely find success, even if you’re just starting out. So, while you’re waiting, you can continue to market your store.

Product Research And Development

The next step in the process is to research and develop your products. Now, I’m not talking about creating a few samples or testing out a handful of products to see how they perform. No, I’m talking about doing extensive research on the types of products that your audience wants and needs.

To get started, you can use your existing social media followers to help you. By engaging with your audience on social media, you can get a sense of what types of products they want and need. So, by incorporating their feedback into your product development, you can create a product that they’ll be happy to purchase (and hopefully, recommend to their friends).

As I mentioned earlier, building a following takes time. However, as you continue to engage with your audience, you’ll be able to quickly find out what types of products they want and need. Once you have that information, you can begin developing your products.

Create A Marketing Plan

With your products in development, you can move on to the next step – creating a marketing plan. This plan should include everything from your target audience, the marketing objectives you hope to meet, and the metrics you’ll use to measure your progress.

The process of creating this marketing plan can be rather overwhelming. That’s why it’s important to break it down into smaller tasks. So, take some time over the next few days to think of everything you need and then make a list of the main points. You can also ask friends, family, or coworkers for help. Having people outside of your circle of friends who can help you create a marketing plan is often times the key to getting the job done.

Once you have your list and you’ve made a note of everything, you can start by creating a marketing collage. A marketing collage is a collection of images and copy edited to look like a magazine. The most common ones are created using an online tool like Canva.

A marketing collage is a great place to start your marketing plan. Not only do you have your logo and web address, you have all of the text you need to create compelling content to engage with your audience. Plus, it’s a freebie – nothing says free marketing more than free content, right? You can also use this tool to create social media banners and email campaign layouts for when you launch your online store.

Inevitably, as a business owner, you’ll want to grow your business. To do that, you need to learn how to market your business. Even though you’ve been doing this for a while, it’ll still be new to you. Just remember to take it step by step and you’re sure to find success.
