The LSU Online MBA Marketing course is currently in session. This post will provide you with an overview of the course schedule for the next three months. Additionally, you will discover what you will learn in this course and how it will prepare you for your role as a marketing manager or brand manager. The schedule for this course follows below.
Fall 2019 Term: Sessions Begin October 14
The first week of the term begins with two introductory sessions that will familiarize you with the learning platform. The first is a short introduction to the course called “Getting to Know You,” which will walk you through the fundamentals of marketing. You will learn about the five Ps of marketing (product, place, people, purposes, and perception), and how to develop a marketing strategy. The tutor for this session is Corey Hall. With more than 10 years of work experience, Mr. Hall has specialized in training salespeople and marketing executives. He will use case studies and interactive classroom discussions to help you understand the theory and practice of marketing.
The following week we begin the first two sections of the course. The first section is a certification course that will teach you the basics of marketing analytics. You will explore Google Analytics and understand the five pillars of marketing analytics: traffic, conversion, media, content and analysis.
Winter 2020 Term: LSUS OnDemand Courses Are Now Available
The Winter 2020 term at LSU opens with two more introductory sessions that will introduce you to on-demand learning. The first is titled “Foundation for Online Learning,” and the second is called “Introduction to Data Science & The Google Analytics Platform.” The following week we begin the first two sections of the LSUS OnDemand Marketing course. Like the on-campus version, the on-demand version of this course is delivered completely online. You will learn from highly qualified instructors who are expert in their field.
The third week of the Winter term begins with an introduction to “brand storytelling.” Brand storytelling is the process of communicating a firm’s mission and values through an engaging narrative. You will learn about the brand voice, mission, and values of different companies and discover how to develop an engaging brand story for your own firm. The tutor for this session is Rachel Delany, a former professional dancer and journalist who has worked in marketing for nearly 20 years. She has helped major brands, including Intel and AT&T, create engaging stories, brands, and marketing campaigns.
Spring 2020 Term: Virtual Learning Environment Enables Face-to-Face Interaction
The next session of the course is a combination of on-site and online learning. The on-site component is a five-day session that will take place at the LSU College of Business in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The course organizers provide the following description of the on-site portion of the course:
This intensive course will give you the opportunity to develop your personal and professional skills while expanding your network. As a student, you will have the chance to connect with and challenge some of the most accomplished marketing professionals in the industry. The course material will prepare you for a career in marketing or brand management, and the network you build during this time will prove invaluable in your future career.
The following week we transition to an online learning environment where you will participate in interactive discussion forums and complete project work. In the final two weeks of the course, you will participate in a three-day virtual case study where you will work in teams to solve real-world problems using the marketing skills you have learned. The virtual case study allows you to work independently as well as interactively with other team members. In the final week of the course, you will have a mock board interview where you will practice sharing your viewpoints on marketing-related questions.
This is an intensive course, and it is highly recommended that you take it in conjunction with a full-time on-campus program. Doing so will give you the opportunity to make the most of the course and benefit from the interactions with experienced professionals. On-campus living is also highly recommended, as it will provide you with a much-needed break from your studies and give you the opportunity to get a taste of real-life experiences. One of the most appealing aspects of the course is that it gives you the opportunity to learn while spending more time with your family. If you are looking for an opportunity to travel or relocate for your studies, this is the one course you should consider taking.
