I feel like I’ve been waiting for a long time to write this blog post. The idea of an online marketing career totally excites me, but I’m also scared at the same time. The idea of starting my own business is something that I’ve dreamt of since I was a little girl, but the thought of taking the risk and investing the time to make it happen is terrifying. I love my job and I don’t want to lose it, but the idea of being able to provide for my family if something happened scares the hell out of me. I don’t know what I’m going to write about, or if I’ll even be able to write this blog post, but I’m going to try my best. This is my story, I hope it helps someone out there who is feeling the same way.
The Beginning
I always loved to draw and paint, but I didn’t really have the opportunity to do so until I was in college. My parents were more into academics than art, so when I went to college I didn’t mention to them that I wanted to be an artist or a designer. I kept that hidden for a long time. When I actually did mention it to my father, he told me that he didn’t have the money to send me to college if I wanted to major in those subjects. He suggested that I get a job instead and pay for my tuition myself. So I did, and I’ve been working ever since. I didn’t start out knowing what I wanted to do in life, but I’ve found my way and it’s been good so far.
The Creative Process
To begin with, I need a topic. For the longest time, I wanted to be a photographer, but then I heard about branding, and how designers can work with photographers to create advertisements and stuff like that. So I got into that and learned the basics. I wasn’t very good at it at first, but I really enjoyed how creative it is. After that, I really wanted to do something with fashion, but as you might imagine, there’s a lot more to styling than just putting together a few looks. When I first got into the industry, there weren’t a lot of people who understood that, so I almost felt like I had to prove myself. I worked my way up from the bottom and now I can call myself a Fashion Stylist, which is something I’m really proud of.
The Main Takeaway
Fashion is a huge industry, and one that is constantly evolving. It’s always expanding, which is something I love about it. I feel like with any other industry, you’re either in or you out. There’s usually no in-between. You’re either successful or you’re not. With fashion, you can always keep learning and evolving. There’s room for everyone, even if you don’t have any formal training. Just be prepared to work hard and invest in your knowledge. That’s what’s important.
