Google Online Marketing Challenge: What Is It?

Welcome to the first installment of the Google Online Marketing Challenge.
This series is intended to provide you with an overview of the different
competitions and what you need to do to enter them. Each installment will
cover one challenge. By the end of this series, you should have a good idea of
what each competition is and what you need to do to enter.

Overview Of The Challenges

The first challenge of the challenge series is to design a logo for
Shopify.com, an eCommerce store that specializes in selling
online. The catch is that you have to design the logo using only the
Webfonts from Google.

While it might not seem difficult, a quick search for Shopify
returns more than 64 million results. That’s a lot of logos to
choose from. So in order to make your life a little easier, we have
chosen four different designs for you to choose from. Each logo uses only
one of the four fonts, allowing you to experiment with combinations of
fonts quickly and easily. We have also provided the source files for
all of the logos. So if you’re feeling creative, get sketching!

Entry Process For This Challenge

When you’ve decided which logo you like best, it’s time to enter the
competition. First, you need to register for a free Google account. Once
you’ve registered, you should receive an email containing a unique
competition link. When you click this link, you’ll be taken to a page
that will inform you of the rules and regulations for this challenge.

If you’re logging into your Google account for the first time, you may
need to verify your email address. A friendly email will be sent to
instruct you on how to do this. Once you’ve confirmed your email
address, you’ll be able to move on to the next step.

The second step is to create a small marketing web page for
Shopify.com. This page will serve as your digital sales
counter-part to Shopify’s physical storefront. You don’t need to
design a full-blown website to enter the competition. Simply create a
page using the four available templates and upload your logo. Don’t
forget to include the Webfonts in your choice as well.

We’ve provided you with detailed instructions on what to do
once you’ve entered the competition. So before you begin designing, it’s
time to get busy.

Design Specifications

When you’ve entered the competition, you’ll be asked to provide
some basic information about yourself. This includes your name,
company, industry, mailing address, and telephone number. You won’t
need to provide any financial information as part of this
challenge.

Along with your name and mailing address, you’ll need to provide
at least four unique selling points or ideas for Shopify.com‘s
products or services. You can find a sample list of items here. To
save you time and ensure your answers are unique, we’ve provided you
with a list of all the necessary questions and answers. Read them over
before you begin designing.

The Final Step

After you’ve submitted your entry, you’ll be reviewed by
Shopify.com’s judges. They will leave comments and suggestions
for improvement. You can improve your odds of winning by listening to
and acting on the feedback. When you’ve finished making changes, you can
press the ‘Publish’ button to make your logo available to
Shopify.com‘s judges for review.

If you’ve followed all the steps correctly, your logo should be
ready to be published within a couple of days. Once it’s been
reviewed and approved, you’ll receive an email notifying you of
this fact. At this point, you can download the finished product and
continue using it for free. Congratulations! You’ve just won the
first challenge in the Google Online Marketing Competition!

As you can see, creating a winning logo for Shopify.com is
very straightforward. You simply need to design a logo using one of the
four available fonts and upload it to a publicly accessible space.

If you’d like, you can enter other competitions linked from the
Shopify.com website and earn additional winning logos.
