If you’re looking to grow your affiliate sales on a limited budget, you’ve probably tried a lot of tactics to achieve this. You may have dabbled in SEO, run Facebook ads, and even thrown money at Snapchat geoflags.
All of these tactics have their place, but so does something called online social media marketing. And now, with the right guide, you can discover how to effectively use free online social media tools to grow your business.
1. Build your following on different platforms
You’ve probably heard of Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, but did you know that you can have a presence on all of these platforms? Even better, you don’t have to run ads to grow your audience on any of these platforms. In fact, you can use the toolbars on these platforms to get valuable insights about your audience and how to engage with them. For example, on Twitter, you can use the “Analytics” tool to learn more about your followers—the demographics, interests, and habits of your audience.
When you build a following on multiple platforms, you’re giving your audience the opportunity to discover you and your content across different social media networks. And when you do this you’ll inevitably grow your audience and find new ways to engage with your current followers. Plus, you can use these multiple channels to target different groups of people to introduce them to your business. In this case, you could use Instagram to target existing Twitter followers with content that appeals to them.
2. Use video content
The video content creation market is valued at over $170 billion worldwide and it shows no sign of slowing down. Video content is becoming an increasingly important part of our life whether we’re watching YouTube videos, scrolling throughInstagram stories, or opening WhatsApp messages.
People love video content. It’s easy to understand and hard to resist, which is likely why so many businesses are jumping on the bandwagon. If you’re looking to grow your affiliate sales in the future, you might want to consider incorporating videos into your strategy. Not only will video content increase your odds of gaining new customers, but you can also use videos to educate your audience on your products or services.
You don’t need expensive software to create videos either. You can use a simple phone or computer to record and send short video messages to your fans. Even better, you can use tools like TikTok, where users love short-form videos, to gain more traction.
3. Use keywords in your headlines, descriptions, and tags
If you want your content to appear in search results, you’ll need to incorporate keywords into your headlines, descriptions, and tags. The better your keywords, the more likely your content will be found by someone who’s interested in your topic.
To find the right keywords, you can use free online tools like Google Keyword Planner. Just plug your website’s URL into the “Enter your site” box and the tool will give you a long list of keywords, along with their associated competition scores (how difficult it will be to rank for these keywords).
If you want to test out different keyword combinations and see which ones get you the most clicks, you can use specialized tools like Google AdWords Keyword Tool or Fuelytics. And if you’re looking to do some serious keyword research, you can use free apps like Google Keyword Finder, which will give you detailed information about the popularity of any word or phrase on Google.”
4. Create video guides
You can create video guides, ebooks, or webinars to attract customers to your business. These types of videos can function as mini-trainings, teaching users how to use your product or service, or they can educate your audience on the importance of your industry.
The key is to make the videos short and to the point. You should be able to watch the whole thing in about 10 minutes — ideally under 5 minutes. Longer videos will make your audience fatiguéed and less likely to engage with you. Creating videos on your phone is easy and free, so you don’t have to worry about budgeting for expensive equipment.
5. Use social media to engage with existing customers
Even though you’ve created engaging and informative content, if you want to grow your affiliate sales you’ll need to do more than just educate your audience. You’ll need to retain them as customers by demonstrating that you care about their needs and that you’re willing to go the extra mile to meet them.
To engage with my audience on social media, I often use the #AskSage hashtag on Twitter. When people ask me questions about my niche, I try to engage with them by replying with helpful information or by sharing relevant resources.
On Instagram, I often use the #WearWhatYouWant hashtag to encourage people to show off their unique style. When people use this hashtag, I’ll occasionally repost or comment on their photos to show my support and to encourage them to keep sharing.
6. Build a community
The best way to gain credibility with your audience is to provide value and establish yourself as an expert in your industry. One way to do this is by regularly sharing valuable information about your niche on social media. Established businesses in your niche will already have a large audience, and by sharing their content you’ll be able to establish yourself as an expert too.
To build a community of engaged customers on my blog, I regularly share valuable tips and resources on Twitter. Because many of my followers are already established experts in their field, I get the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from them about how to improve my blog—in turn, creating even more value for my audience.
7. Use video content in your emails
Instead of just throwing together an occasional blog post, why not create a weekly or even daily video podcast? Not only will you have an easy way to educate your audience about your industry and the products you promote, but you can also use the videos in your emails. When people opt-in to receive video content from you, you’ll have the chance to establish yourself as an expert in your industry, demonstrate that you care about their needs, and allow them to connect with you on a more personal level—all things which can hopefully lead to a sale.
To effectively use video content in my email campaigns, I use a tool called Vidyard. This media-buying platform allows me to search for the best video content for email use and to integrate it into my campaigns seamlessly.
8. Measure the success of your strategy
To find out if your strategy is effective, you’ll need to measure the results of your efforts. There are various free and low-cost tools you can use to track the performance of keywords, ads, and social media shares—without the need for a traditional marketing agency. If you want to keep track of the results of your strategy, you can use tools like Google Analytics. This tool will give you a clear picture of how your website is performing and how effective your strategy is in gaining you leads.
To find the right keywords, you can use Google Keyword Planner. Just plug your website’s URL into the “Enter your site” box and the tool will give you a long list of keywords, along with their associated competition scores (how difficult it will be to rank for these keywords).
If you want to test out different keyword combinations and see which ones get you the most clicks, you can use specialized tools like Google Keyword Tool or Fuelytics.
